The majority of businesses use and store data on a daily basis, and it's highly likely in the modern climate that computers will be used to store and manipulate this data. Emails, customer databases, bookings and many different types of data are stored and your business most probably relies on the integrity of this data in order to function efficiently, and in some cases at all. Therefore, it is wise to consider backups and redundency. In other words, storage and protection of your data in case of disaster. What happens if there is a fire which destroys your computers, a burglery or a computer decides to lunch itself at some point. It all happens. Backups look after 'data dumps' which are often stored offsite, such as an external backup drive, cd, dvd or tape drive. Redundency is extra insurance for your hardware by means of running mirrored disc drives or raid arrays of discs, which means that your data is not just on one disc, but 2 or more discs. Take a moment to think about your business data, is it protected from disaster? |
